TransNusa to Launch Daily Bali–Melbourne Flights From October 19

← Home

Indonesian carrier TransNusa will launch daily direct Bali Melbourne flights starting October 19, 2026, giving travelers a new nonstop option between Australia’s second-largest city and Bali’s main gateway airport.

The route will run on a daily schedule. The outbound leg departs Denpasar at 8:45pm and arrives in Melbourne at 5:40am the following morning, while the return flight departs Melbourne at 6:25am and lands back in Bali at 9:40am the same day. Tickets have been on sale since September 15, 2026, giving travelers over a month’s notice before the route goes live.

TransNusa CEO Datuk Bernard Francis described the Melbourne launch as part of the airline’s broader international expansion strategy, positioning Bali as a connecting gateway between Australia and the rest of Asia. The route follows closely on the heels of TransNusa’s recent launch of daily direct flights between Bali and Phuket, making Melbourne the airline’s second new international connection within a matter of weeks.

Why This Route Matters

Melbourne has long relied on indirect connections through Jakarta, Perth or other transit points to reach Bali. A dedicated daily nonstop service shortens total travel time and adds schedule reliability for both leisure travelers and the sizeable Australian expat and frequent-visitor community already based in Bali.

For travelers flying in from Melbourne, the overnight outbound timing means arriving in Bali early in the morning with a full day ahead, while the early return departure suits onward domestic connections through Denpasar.

The Melbourne route is also the latest sign of how quickly Bali’s long-haul connectivity is growing this season. Several carriers have added or restored direct international links into Denpasar over the past month alone, from new Asian connections to fresh European routings, as airlines compete to position Ngurah Rai International as a wider regional hub rather than a single-country beach destination.

Planning Around the New Route

Travelers planning to use the new service should factor it into their broader Bali arrival planning — see our Bali Airport Guide for details on Ngurah Rai International’s terminals and transfer options after landing. The Melbourne launch adds to a fast-expanding slate of new international connections into Bali this season; for a wider look at how Bali compares with nearby alternatives for onward travel, see our Indonesia Destination Comparisons guide.

Bottom Line

The new Bali Melbourne flights give Australian travelers a straightforward, connection-free way to reach one of Southeast Asia’s busiest tourism hubs, and reinforce TransNusa’s push to turn Bali into a wider regional connecting point. The daily service is confirmed to start October 19, 2026, with tickets already available for booking.
